Canada Post Strike: What it means for All of Us

If you've been wondering why your mail has slowed down recently, you're not alone. The Canada Post strike, which began on November 15, 2024, is impacting mail and package deliveries across the country – right in the middle of holiday shopping season (great timing 🥴)!

As a small family-run business here at We Are Planet Hope, this strike has been challenging for us too. We rely on Canada Post to deliver our eco-friendly cleaners to homes across Canada. But don't worry – we're doing everything we can to make sure you still get the products you love without the delay.

Let's break this down

What's going on with Canada Post?

About 55,000 members of the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) are on strike, advocating for fair wages and safer working conditions. Unfortunately, this means no mail or parcel deliveries until an agreement is reached.

Of course, this strike is happening strategically. The workers are in a position of power with Black Friday, Christmas, and other shopping holidays just around the corner. This timing adds pressure for a swift resolution but also creates challenges for businesses and customers alike.

If you're wondering how long this might last, previous strikes might give us a clue. The last major Canada Post strike in 2018 went on for five weeks before government intervention brought it to an end. Back in 2011, another strike lasted about two weeks. While it's unclear how long this strike will continue, we're staying hopeful for a resolution soon.

In the meantime, we understand how disruptive this can be for you – and we're doing everything we can to minimize the impact.

What Does This Mean for Your Orders?

Despite the strike, we still want to get your orders out as quickly as we can! While the Canada Post strike has affected some of our shipping, we've made adjustments to make sure you're not completely shut out.

We usually ship all of our smaller orders, like packs of podz in envelopes, via Canada Post. However, anything requiring a box is shipped through UPS during the strike. This means many of your favourite items are still on the way!

So what items require a box? All of our bottle sets. This may be a perfect time to try out our Foaming Dish Soap (my personal favourite), Foaming Hand Soap, or our new Cleaner Mason Jar Set.

Rest assured, we're keeping a close eye on everything and will continue to update you as needed. Your trust in our small family means the world to us, and we'll always do our best to deliver!
